Dear Woodenhead Members: We recently saw your concert at Bisbano's in Lafayette LA on Friday night, November 16, 2007. Sorry you had to endure the six hour trip to get there. My husband David and I sat in the front row the whole time. Your concert was great! We really love instrumental and jazz music! Thanks for a great concert. We are enjoying listening to your CD that we purchased. So glad that Shelton booked you and that he told us about your concert. We were there also on Wednesday night. Can't wait to hear you play again. Best of Luck to All of You! You are all very nice and very talented musicians.

Yalls CDs are always blaring in my car. I got a question for Fran and Jimmy, do yall have any recordings of Woodenhead and the Dixie Dreggs when my Dad was in woodenhed? If so I am very intrested to hear! all he has are a couple of vinyl albums that wont last forever(I love ELEPHANTS GRAVEYARD). Anyway, I just wanted to tell yu guys that you all inspire me so much as a musician myself(drum,bass,guit,sax) and the ANIMAL SPIRIT WILL LIVE ON!!!YOWWW!!!!

I met Jimmy last night when he opened for the Adrian Belew show at the House of Blues (Parish). Great guy, very friendly and unassuming. He did a great job with his short acoustic set and really warmed up the crowd for Adrian. Jimmy was nice enough to give me and a few others the latest Woodenhead release-been playing incessantly in my truck since the concert ended last night! Anyway, thanks Jimmy, I love the music and wish you and the band the best. Hopefully I'll soon catch all of Woodenhead performing!

I moved from Baton Rouge to Houston in 1974. That's my excuse for not discovering the joys of Woodenhead until they opened for a Steve Morse show in Houston (c. 1984). I used to bootleg shows of that caliber while writing reviews for a weekly free paper, "Public News." I guess I neglected to record that gig. Pity. After the solid set I asked Fran if anyone in the band would agree to be interviewed. They all agreed. We had quite a pleasant chat backstage & my review was a little long, essentially 2 shows' worth. As I recall, the editors sliced out most of the Woodenhead material from the piece as a space saving measure. I hope I sent both versions to Jimmy for being so friendly & open with me. He turned me on to a desk copy cassette of some live tunes, many of which are not included on the 1984 "Live" lp. What a sweetheart. I've treasured that work from the 80s because I hadn't heard any more about the band until recently, when I happened to buy a used copy of "Big Picture." Was I stoked to realize that Woodenhead lives! I ordered the "Perseverance," of course, to hear how much progress has been made. You lovely people continue to trip my head in the most delightful way possible. Keep up the fantastic work. Please keep me on your e-mail list for future updates & touring info. Thanks for beautifying the musical landscape. You rock my world!

Any Woodenhead fans out there.. I have an extra copy of the first Woodenhead album from 1982 on Inner City. If anyone wants it, please contact me. I first saw Jimmy and the gang in the 80s when Woodenhead opened up for Steve Morse! What a great combo! After the show, the band was very friendly, and I became a fan for life! Just picked up Perseverence, and it may be my favorite. I can definitely see the maturity made from album to album. When are you coming to Dallas again? Jeff

How about some ancient history? I first met Jimmy and his band way back when he was a junior in high school and they would commandeer a pavillion in City Park (New Orleans) around dawn on Sundays. Many local and sometimes national bands would play Sunday afternoons with this unusual band called Ejaculation playing the last set at sundown. I was amazed at how well these high school 'kids' played and that most was original music. I made the mistake of telling them I liked what they did and offered to help. Next thing I knew I was the manager, equipment manager and booking agent. I had no experience here but I did have a van! This was a most enjoyable experience as Jimmy and the other two boys, Tommy Lachin (drummer extroidinire) and Ken Johnson on Rickenbacker Bass were a lot of fun to be around and they were genuinely nice kids! I was in my mid-twenties at the time. After several years playing around locally the switch to disco nearly killed live music that wasn't strictly top 40 and the band disbanded with Jimmy eventually forming Woodenhead. He was and is a most gifted musician and writer. Although most of you probably haven't ever heard him sing, he had an unusual and distinctive style that we all really liked. Perhaps again someday Jimmy? That old Les Paul he plays dates from around 1973 and was obtained from Sound City on Carrolton Ave. Those guys were crazy - they would let us use all kinds of equipment and we payed them a little bit at a time with no signatures or paperwork! They always liked the band however. Even as a young player, Jimmy had a style and sound that was uniquely his own. I'm proud of him for the wonderful music he has created and played all these years! I've seen Woodenhead play at many venues around the New Orleans area. There is one particular song that is my favorite and it sounds great live. I wish I knew the name of it, but every time I mention it to bassist Paul Clement, he ignores me and proceeds to tell me the story of how the song "Ayo Aise" got its name. Anyway, I look forward to hearing this mystery song at future performances. You guys rock and despite all the different genres you find yourself under, to me you're still rock 'n' roll. Of course, this could have to do with my staunch refusal to use the term "fusion" to describe anything but that new soft drink, but my closed-mindedness remains firm. Oh, if I can give one piece advice, it would be that Paul should grow a beard. And not just any beard, I want to see a late 60's, early 70's Beatles Sasquatch looking mop. Thanks.

A friend that I used to work with and jam with occasionally told me about you guys with great reverance. The way he talked, I thought you were long defunct. Imagine my surprise when I found your new album on the Laser's Edge site. I will be at your Mar. 8 show. I currently play in a straight up rock band (I'm the bass player, not in the group picture. My bio is on there, though) I'm trying to convince my guitar player to do a progressive project that's different than where we're at. I think he's got the chops. Anyway, see you on the 8th.

I met Jimmy Robinson in 1977 (he was my college guitar instructor). I have been solidly behind his music since then and think Woodenhead is a superb band.

I've been a loyal and devoted fan of the band's for 20 years and hearing them is always the highlight of my annual trips to JazzFest. I've even passed on the likes of Dave Brubeck (one of my all-time heroes) who just happened to be playing opposite Woodenhead at the festival just to hear them play live one more time.
